Success Series Two
Teachers as well as students will enjoy the unique format of Success Series Two folders, which is based on thirty-six colored, elementary-drawn "prompt" pictures that comprise the front covers of each folder. All the models, however, are at a secondary 6-12 level.
Typically the left side of each folder contains a one-paragraph model for struggling students or any students for a Quick Write. Analysis questions and writing assignments follow that not only will help classes understand the structure, elaboration, and voice used to create the piece but will also provide students with an opportunity to compose their own paragraphs based on the example.
The right side and back of the folder are more in-depth essays labeled as "Challenges." All on-target and proficient students should either be able to readily write their own essay after having read and discussed the piece or be able to use it as a goal to work toward during the semester.
Some folders, such as "Individualized Commas," deviate from this structure because of the topic, but all folders are self-contained lessons--with models (which are student-friendly and difficult to find), analysis questions, and motivational writing assignments.
Students benefit from whole-class, partner, or individual instruction that can introduce, review, or serve as tests for writing in all modes, application of literary terms, and recognition of grammatical devices.
There is nothing like them on the market, and the work has been done for you.
